Welcome to LexArts’ 2017 Arts Showcase Weekend! A celebration of the arts across all genres, Arts Showcase Weekend will encompass multiple venues and many of the area’s best artists and arts organizations. We want you, your family and friends to sample it all and discover the many ways you can cultivate your creativity year round.
There is something for everyone! For the family, you’ll find hands-on arts activities, performances by the Lexington Children’s Theatre and the Lexington Philharmonic, to name a few. For older arts-lovers, you’ll encounter everything from ballet to bellydance, barbershop to the blues. Literary arts, murals, film, and collage are part of the mix as well. You’re sure to find Lexington’s arts and culture scene vibrant, diverse and engaging.
Friday night of Arts Showcase Weekend is also Gallery Hop. Dozens of galleries, artist studios, and other venues will have works of visual art on view and for sale.
On Saturday and Sunday, events will occur throughout the city: at ArtsPlace, the Downtown Arts Center, the Farish Theatre at the Downtown Public Library, the Carnegie Center, the Living Arts and Science Center and the Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center. All events are open to the public and most are free, though some may require reservations and/or tickets.
Lexington’s arts and cultural scene is rich because of the community support provided annually through our Fund for the Arts campaign. Each year, hundreds of individuals and businesses give generously to support many of the groups featured in Arts Showcase Weekend.
This weekend is for you! We hope you enjoy Arts Showcase Weekend and discover the many ways you can experience the arts in the Bluegrass.
